They come home with missing limbs, hearing and vision loss, embedded shrapnel, and, most devastating of all, invisible wounds of mind and spirit related to combat.
According to Cause USA, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping America’s military wounded, 12,450 troops were wounded in Afghanistan as of July 2011, and 31,922 wounded in Iraq as of July 2011.
We owe an immense debt to these men and women in uniform, one that can never be repaid. They are the heroes who “stand on the wall” to protect our nation and the liberties we enjoy as citizens. They have earned the right to the very best treatment and care that America has to offer, and Air Compassion for Veterans® stands ready to make sure they receive it.
Unfortunately, the military cannot always provide transportation resources to our wounded warriors seeking specialized evaluation, diagnosis or treatment. ACV steps in to ensure that they and their families have access to the care they need.
In the last several years, numerous programs designed to help our returning combat veterans have started operations. These programs provide counseling and rehabilitative and restorative care. Through its valued partner, American Airlines, ACV provides transportation to many such programs throughout the United States.
